ABCS hosts open house
Arizona Baptist Children's Services hosted an open house Nov. 13 in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention in Tucson.
This was an opportunity to showcase the new ministry space created by the renovation of the chapel of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Emmanuel has been a long-standing partner with ABCS and has entered into a 20-year lease agreement for the space.
The building now houses nine offices for Arms of Love Foster Care and the New Start Women's program, a large training room with audiovisual support, a full kitchen and a room for sorting donated children's clothing and supplies for foster families.
The training room is used for classes for potential foster parents, weekly staff meetings and statewide staff training. In fact, in conjunction with the open house, all of the directors of the New Life Pregnancy Centers across the state came in for two half-days of training.
Guests had the opportunity to visit various ministry displays and speak with statewide staff about what God is doing in their portion of the state. As a result of some of those conversations, new ministry partnerships are developing.
Upgrades to the existing ABCS offices were also highlighted. The main building is directly south of the newly renovated building.
Carpet, doors and light fixtures were replaced, and the building was repainted. The bathrooms were upgraded, and the former conference room was converted into three offices. The counseling offices were also refurnished. The New Life Pregnancy Center now has an ultrasound machine, which was provided by donations and is used to save lives of unborn babies.
The staff members of Arizona Baptist Children's Services are grateful for the generosity of the donors who contributed to the building fund. These gifts allowed ABCS to increase the ministry space and expand the services that can be offered in Christ's name.
