Arizona WMU holds annual meeting
Hearing a challenge to "live out God's love" more than 45 people attended the Arizona Woman's Missionary Union annual meeting April 24.
Held at Green Valley Baptist Church, Green Valley, the missions celebration drew women from 18 churches throughout the state.
Joye Smith, keynote speaker and national WMU preschool consultant, asked, "What does it mean to love God with all that you are?" She encouraged participants to share His love with others.
"We wanted the ladies to learn about missions and to be refreshed in mind and spirit," said Gwen Austin, Arizona WMU president. "We really felt the presence of the Lord in worship and the breakout sessions."
Breakout topics included personal discipleship, mission opportunities and education and leadership skills.
Speakers included state leaders as well as representatives from the International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board, Christian Challenge, Arizona Baptist Children's Services, Arizona's Campers on Mission and Caring Sharing Ministries. Ron Hood, Green Valley Baptist minister of music, led the music.
Elected as officers were Gwen Austin, president; Donna Guillott, vice-president/acting secretary; Madine Peterson, treasurer; Linda Hopson, youth specialist; Lorraine Allender, children's specialist; Melissa Allender, preschool specialist; Mirsa Amaro, multicultural consultant; and Kimberly Scott, publicity.
The next annual meeting will be held March 5, 2011 at CrossPoint Church, Tempe.
