Rik Danielsen has been named the new director of evangelism/missions for Yavapai Association. He succeeds Arnie Sorrells, who retired in 2007.

"My vision is to build a team of churches who will help each other so they can accomplish their mission," said Danielsen, who began serving Feb. 18. "I will be visiting all the churches and meeting the pastors to see what the needs are."

Twenty-two congregations comprise this association located in one of the fastest growing areas of the state.

Since 1997, Danielsen served as senior pastor at Brown Road, Mesa. During his 30-year career, he also ministered at First Baptist, Show Low, and at two churches in California.

Danielsen moved to Arizona as a young child. He is a graduate of Grand Canyon University and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.

He and his wife, Carolyn, have two grown children.
